French & Cooper Diaries- What's new?

Updated: 3 days ago

Welcome to the French & Cooper Diaries!

I've thought for a while that I would like to create a diary of sorts to share what is going on in both our locations! Our farmouse in rural SW France and our original family home in Cooper St in the city of Perth, Western Australia.

Our branding name French & Cooper arose from both these properties.

We found ourselves refering to our farmhouse constantly as "The French House", and our home in Perth as the "Cooper St House" and I guess it came as a natural progression to call our small business French & Cooper given that it encompasses both these properties.

If not for anything else, I wanted to get ourselves into the habit of writing a diary, even if it's a decade or two too late to document all the progress from the beginning. One has to start somewhere, and there is no stopping progress, so I guess it's never really too late!

This is one of my favourite views in the world....the sunflowers on my daily walk around the fields that surround our village.

Below are the many faces of our French farmhouse. We rarely see the house through the trees apart from in Winter. (Photo 1), Spring comes quickly and the trees fill, flowers bloom and everything seems to be fragrant, pulsing with life and growing abundantly. Summer brings long, warm evenings redolent with produce, strawberries, grapes, vegetables, bbq's and the muted sounds of the village dining late into the evenings, laughing, clinking glasses. Everyone taking advantage of it all the bounty.

We are currently counting down to our departure from Perth. Our Airbnb's are running smoothly. We have created a new door opening out onto a beautiful private courtyard making our Cabin guests very happy! Our long-term Swedish professors are loving our Garden Apartment and are about to head out to explore the goldfields!

The heat of summer has finally dissipated. The garden has had it's first sprinkle or two of actual rain, washing the dust from leaves and refreshing the thirsty soil. It's a beautiful time of the year, temperatures dropping allow doors to be left open, air-conditioners are finally quiet and although the day comes to an end way too early (630pm), the seasonal change is so welcome.

À bientôt!

I'm off to start filling the suitcases - I can't wait to start planting the veggie garden, pick some Elderflowers for panna cotta and syrup and of course head out to some Brocantes to hunt for treasure!
